Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious trophy on 14 different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger found the net in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side fired two times late to take a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying seconds to send the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 seasons.
